I hand cut dovetails for the four barrel lugs. Using a hacksaw I carefully made several cuts that were then chiseled out.  I then used a file to clean up the base and a chisel to raise the two edges just a bit.
			The barrel lug was then carefully staked in place. The 1792 Contract rifle use's four barrel lugs. They are set at 2 1/2 inches, 12 1/2 inches, 22 1/2 inches and 32 1/2 inches from the muzzle. One more lug will be dovetailed into the barrel later that the sling swivel will be pinned to.
